and India
His work...
Le Corbusier born in Switzerland in 1887. and dead in 1965. His real name is Charles-Edouard Jeanneret Gris, he decided
to change his named because he think anybody can choose who he want to be.
Le Corbusier was a head of his time : is ideas about the architecture was modern and practical. He wanted to make
accesible housing.
The choices of Le Corbusier in architecture are the ones which define the purism: simplicity of the forms, the
organization, the rigor.
His architecture bases on five fundamental principles: " Five points of new architecture ":
- Pilotis, allowing to pass the light and the people
- The roof brings down, offering a surface accessible to the air, the sun and the light
- The free plan, no bearing wall
- The free facade, which, without bearing wall, little to be fitted out by the architect
- The window in length or window-headband, which increases the luminosity
Le Corbusier also respects the sustainable development, his creations are surrounded with greenery, the social has a
dominant place there and the services are always nearby
